Floor Exercise

The specified bonus, unless otherwise indicated, completely replaces the numbered skill/sequence directly above it.

The routine below is written from the A to C perspective.

  1. Start in corner A facing C and run and hurdle to cartwheel

Performance Guidelines: Make sure the gymnast's shoulders do not turn before the initial push from the lunge position and reach for the floor.

  2. Immediate side chassé and cartwheel with ¼ turn to face corner A

Performance Guidelines: The ¼ turn is initiated after the lead foot contacts the floor and is finished as the subordinate leg contacts the floor.

  3. Backward (tucked, piked or extension) roll to stand

Specified Bonus: Backward (tucked, piked or extension) roll with straight arms throughout the roll

  4. Step back (with either leg) and execute a ½ turn to a standing lunge then lift back leg to Arabesque

Performance Guidelines: During the lunge the gymnast's front foot should be slightly turned out, and his back leg should be straight with the heel contacting the floor. The Arabesque must be held for 2 seconds with a back leg angle of least a 45° below horizontal.

  5. Bring the raised leg down and fall forward to a bent arm prone, then while pushing to a straight arm prone execute a ½ turn (either direction) to a straight arm rear support. Once in rear support, lower to a pike sit position and straddle legs.
  6. Pancake

Performance Guidelines: A momentary hold of pancake is required, but a 2 second hold is allowed.

  7. Sit up facing A and close legs to a pike and roll back to candlestick

Performance Guidelines: The gymnast must show full body extension while moving through the candlestick position. A hold is allowed on the candlestick.

  8. Roll forward to straddle stand
  9. Press to headstand and roll out to stand

Performance Guidelines: A 2 second hold is required on the press to headstand.

Specified Bonus: Straddle press to handstand (hold allowed)

  10. Swing arms down and back up into a power hurdle to round off, rebound to stand
